DriftWerks (driftwerks.art) is run by Joe Peach, doing business as DriftWerks ("we," "us"). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.
DriftWerks is a free generative art workshop in beta. You make werks; they're yours. They live in your browser and in your share links, not on our servers. The service is provided as-is while we build it. Be decent, keep your links, and enjoy.
As between you and us, you own the werks you forge: the compositions you create and the images you export. We claim no ownership of your art.
One honest note: the law on who owns procedurally generated art is genuinely unsettled. So we put it this way: whatever rights exist in a werk you make belong to you, not us.
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and adapt your werks as needed to run and improve the service: rendering share links, generating previews and share images, displaying lineage, and showcasing publicly shared werks (for example in featured or community displays, or to promote DriftWerks). This license covers werks you have shared; werks that never leave your device never reach us at all. Copies already shared by link may continue to render even if you stop using DriftWerks, because the link itself carries the recipe.
Sharing is the heart of DriftWerks. A share link contains everything needed to rebuild a werk, so anyone holding a link can view it, re-render it, and fork it into something new. Treat a shared link as public. Forking is a feature, not a violation: lineage exists so origins stay visible. Don't share a link and then claim someone stole your werk by opening it.
Don't use DriftWerks for anything illegal, harmful, or abusive; don't attempt to break, overload, reverse-bill, or exploit the service or other people using it. We can restrict access to protect the workshop.
Things may break, change, or improve without notice. We intend share links to keep rendering forever — that intention is written into how the product is built — but during beta we cannot guarantee perfection, and the service carries no warranties of any kind.
No accounts. Nothing you make is uploaded. Analytics are cookieless and IP addresses are discarded. The full story lives in the privacy notice.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DriftWerks and its maker aren't liable for damages arising from use of a free beta art toy. If a court finds otherwise anyway, total liability is capped at the amount you paid us — which is zero.
We may update these terms as the beta evolves; the current version always lives at this page. These terms are governed by the laws of Washington State, USA.
